Unity Programming - Short Term Course

Course Objective (What is the outcome from taking this course)

The Unity game engine is widely adopted in the game industry both in India and internationally both in small and large studios. After taking this course, the mentee/student will be familiar with using Unity and be capable of using it in a professional manner. You will learn to write clean and optimized code in C#.


The aim of this course is to get you beyond the initial barriers of game development. (For a thorough course, please check out the one year Advanced Diploma program). You will explore other game production processes such as game design and art.

Eligibility (Who should take this course)

You need to be passionate about making games/interactive apps. You also need to be a left-brained person with a zeal for logic and critical thinking! This course assumes that you are familiar with coding in any commonly used object-oriented language. This is a technical course aimed towards programmers. It is not intended for artists or game designers who don’t want to learn coding.

Required skills:
Familiarity with programming concepts
  1. Syntax and Semantics,
  2. IDEs and Compilers,
  3. Data types, Keywords, Operators,
  4. Decision making, Iteration(Looping),
  5. Functions & Arrays,
  6. OOP and SOLID principles
Knowledge of any of the following Programming Language
  1. C#
  2. C++
  3. Java
  4. Python
  5. or any other standard object oriented programming language

You need to be a self-motivated quick learner as this is a short course abundant in content.
  1. Experience with C#/Dotnet specifically is a welcome advantage.
  2. Have developed games professionally or as a hobby using any game engine or library such as UDK, Corona, Cocos, Unreal etc
  3. Familiarity with Visual Studio 2013 or above
  4. Knowledge of programming principles and design patterns
Duration (4 months including 1month Project)

i.e 2 hrs on 2 weekdays, 4hrs on Saturday

Course Contents (An overview of the syllabus)
Project Description
The students will make a game at the end of the course. The 4th month will be dedicated for the project.Goals:
  1. Learn the game development pipeline used in the industry
  2. Learn to code correctly and professionally
  3. Make a complete game from scratch to finish collaborating with many people.
  4. Learn to manage time and complete the project
Job Prospects
The Unity engine is widely used in the game industry and there are good career prospects. After taking this course, you will be more than eligible to face interviews in this field. You will have an edge over other fresher/newbies who have little experience in Unity and/or game development.
